World App Launches as Global Super App with Encrypted Chat, AI-Driven Finance, and Human Verification

The New World App, launched by Tools for Humanity, is positioning itself as a super app for the AI era by integrating encrypted messaging, global financial access, and anonymous proof of human identity. The platform, unveiled during a live “Unwrapped” event in San Francisco by co-founders Sam Altman and Alex Blania, aims to create a human-centered digital ecosystem where communication, finance, and identity verification converge seamlessly. World App now boasts nearly 40 million users and close to 20 million verified World IDs. In September 2025, it became the most-used digital wallet globally by monthly active users, according to SensorTower data on self-custodial wallets. Sign-ups occur every 1.7 seconds, and someone verifies their identity at an Orb—World’s identity verification device—every 3.6 seconds. At the heart of the new experience is World Chat, a secure, end-to-end encrypted messaging system designed to promote authentic, private, and human-to-human connection. It is built into the app and represents a foundational step toward a trust-based communication layer for the digital world. The app has also expanded its financial capabilities. Users can now access US Dollar virtual accounts in 18 countries, including the U.S., Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and several Latin American nations. These accounts allow users to receive paychecks directly, add funds from their bank via partner services, and spend USDC with no in-app fees. The app now supports a range of stablecoins such as USDC, EURC, wMXN, wARS, wCLP, wBRL, wPEN, and wCOP, all with no transaction fees. Earning features have been enhanced, offering up to 18% annual percentage yield (APY) on WLD and 15% on USDC, backed by the Morpho protocol and protected by World ID’s one-human, one-account security model. The app now supports over 100 digital assets, and real-world spending is now possible at more than one million points of sale in Argentina using QR codes. The World Card, set to launch in Q1, will bring Apple Pay and tap-to-pay functionality to the U.S. and other markets. World ID continues to evolve, with new features that increase trust in online interactions. These include identity verification tools for sensitive use cases like online dating, following the April partnership with Match Group, beginning with Tinder Japan. Together, these updates mark a significant step toward a more secure, inclusive, and human-first internet. By combining proof of human identity, private messaging, and global financial access, Tools for Humanity is building the infrastructure for a digital world that values authenticity, privacy, and user control. The new World App is now rolling out globally on iOS and Android. Tools for Humanity, headquartered in San Francisco and Munich, was founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania to create technology that serves people in the age of AI. World Network, the underlying system, was conceived by Altman, Max Novendstern, and Blania, with the goal of connecting every human with real identity, financial access, and meaningful connection in the AI era.
