Google Expands Affordable AI Plus Plan to All Markets, Including U.S. at $7.99/Month

Google has expanded its more affordable Google AI Plus plan to all markets where its AI subscription services are available, including the United States. Starting now, U.S. users can subscribe for $7.99 per month, marking a significant step in broadening access to Google’s advanced AI tools. The rollout includes 35 new countries and territories, following earlier launches that began in September with Indonesia. The plan offers a range of features, including access to Gemini 3 Pro and Nano Banana Pro within the Gemini app, AI-powered filmmaking tools through Flow, research and writing assistance in NotebookLM, and other AI-driven capabilities. Subscribers also receive 200GB of Google Drive storage and the ability to share their plan benefits with up to five family members. Existing Google One Premium 2TB subscribers will automatically gain access to all Google AI Plus benefits over the next few days, according to the company. Initially launched with a focus on emerging markets, the AI Plus plan is positioned as an accessible entry point beyond free access to Gemini and other AI tools. It targets users who may not need or cannot afford the more robust Google AI Pro plan, which is typically priced at $20 per month. While the price varies by region, the $8 monthly rate in the U.S. is designed to attract a broader, more casual audience to Google’s AI ecosystem. In many other countries, the cost is even lower—users in India, for example, pay ₹399 ($4.44 USD) per month. Google developed the plan to make its AI tools—such as Gemini, Veo, and creative AI features—more accessible in regions with price-sensitive consumers. It also aims to compete directly with OpenAI’s ChatGPT Go plan, which costs $8 per month in the U.S. and less in select emerging markets. These affordable tiers are part of a broader strategy to grow AI adoption by capturing users who may eventually upgrade to higher-tier plans. For a limited time, new subscribers can take advantage of a 50% discount on their first two months as part of a promotional offer.
