Adtran Introduces Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter for Simplified and Agile Enterprise Edge Services Delivery

Adtran Launches Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter for Enterprise Edge Services HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Adtran has unveiled its Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter, a cloud-managed solution that streamlines the delivery of high-performance Layer 3 managed services with reduced costs, complexity, and risk. As traditional routers approach their end-of-life and core network revenues stagnate, telecommunications providers are increasingly turning to enterprise sites to drive new growth. The Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter, available through a single subscription, provides a cost-effective alternative to proprietary appliances. It enhances service delivery, accelerates deployment, and improves the monetization of enterprise connectivity at the network edge. By replacing single-function, proprietary routers with a flexible virtualized platform, it equips providers with a more powerful and simpler way to modernize their edge infrastructure. “The dynamics of enterprise service delivery are evolving rapidly, and providers must adapt,” said Robert Conger, General Manager of software platforms and strategy at Adtran. “The Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter not only modernizes services and boosts margins but also supports business customers with greater agility. It delivers the ease of a traditional appliance while harnessing the scalability and intelligence of a cloud-native platform. Providers often struggle with managing legacy appliances that are costly to evaluate, deploy, and scale. This solution helps them overcome these challenges and expand their service offerings over time.” The Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter integrates servers with high-performance virtual routing technology from 6WIND and features centralized cloud orchestration through Ensemble EdgeView. It supports native 2.5Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s SFP+ connections, with optional 5G wireless capabilities. The platform offers dynamic Layer 3 routing, robust virtual private network (VPN), Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), quality of service (QoS), and stateful firewall functionalities, along with secure IPsec capabilities. Key features include zero-touch provisioning, remote lifecycle management, and cloud-hosted orchestration services, which expedite time to market and simplify operations. Providers can start with 4-core systems for basic routing needs and scale up to 8-core configurations to handle additional virtual network functions and enterprise workloads. “We’ve built this platform to be more than a mere replacement for outdated hardware. It serves as a scalable, service-ready foundation that allows our customers to meet current demands and prepare for future advancements,” noted Christoph Glingener, Chief Technology Officer at Adtran. “The Ensemble Cloudlet vRouter offers the flexibility to customize deployments based on specific needs, whether it's providing high-bandwidth Layer 3 services or integrating more complex use cases with third-party virtual network functions (VNFs). Providers can now enjoy the simplicity of a physical device combined with the versatility of virtualization, all underpinned by cloud-native control and off-the-shelf agility.” For more detailed information, refer to the slides available on Adtran’s website.
