SAP and Syngenta Forge AI Partnership to Revolutionize Agriculture and Scale Sustainable Innovation

SAP SE and Syngenta, a global leader in agricultural innovation, have announced a multi-year strategic technology partnership aimed at accelerating AI-driven transformation across Syngenta’s global operations. The collaboration will integrate artificial intelligence deeply into Syngenta’s enterprise systems, modernizing core functions and enabling faster innovation across manufacturing, supply chain, and grower-facing solutions. Agriculture faces mounting pressures from climate change, complex supply chains, and global instability. With the world’s population expected to reach 10 billion by 2050, the partnership seeks to enhance food security by improving efficiency, resilience, and scalability in farming operations. AI will play a central role in helping Syngenta meet these challenges while supporting sustainable agricultural practices. Feroz Sheikh, Chief Information and Digital Officer at Syngenta Group, emphasized the strategic importance of AI, stating, “AI is the catalyst for agricultural transformation and has quickly become a core competitive edge for Syngenta.” He added that the partnership with SAP is reshaping how the company operates, modernizing its enterprise systems and advancing its vision of becoming an AI-first agriculture company. Philipp Herzig, Chief Technology Officer at SAP SE, highlighted the broader impact of the collaboration. “Syngenta’s transformation sets a benchmark for digital innovation in agriculture,” he said. “Together, we’re demonstrating how cloud and AI technologies can drive sustainable growth and efficiency in one of the world’s most critical industries.” The initiative will begin with the deployment of SAP Cloud ERP Private solutions to modernize Syngenta’s core operations across the value chain, improving agility, scalability, and resilience. A unified data foundation will be built using SAP Business Data Cloud, enabling secure, real-time data integration essential for AI-driven decision-making. Syngenta will leverage SAP Business AI and AI-assisted tools such as the Joule copilot to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate innovation, and deliver smarter solutions to farmers worldwide. The platform will also ensure growers retain control and privacy over their proprietary data. This partnership underscores a growing trend of AI adoption in agriculture, where data-driven insights are becoming vital for optimizing yields, reducing environmental impact, and supporting farmers in adapting to changing conditions. By combining Syngenta’s deep agricultural expertise with SAP’s enterprise technology and AI capabilities, the two companies aim to build a more sustainable and resilient food system for the future.
