Cognitiv Launches Next-Gen ContextGPT, Revolutionizing Privacy-First Audience Targeting with AI-Powered Precision and Real-Time Customization
Cognitiv has unveiled a major upgrade to its AI-powered platform, ContextGPT, introducing a new era of precision in contextual audience targeting. The enhanced version leverages advanced artificial intelligence to deliver deeper content understanding, dynamic audience discovery, and intelligent strategy, all without relying on cookies, pixels, or user identifiers. At the heart of the update is Interactive Audience Exploration, a groundbreaking feature that allows media planners to define target audiences using natural language. ContextGPT interprets the intent behind these descriptions and recommends highly relevant content environments in real time. The process is transparent, showing how recommendations are generated and enabling advertisers to refine and select tailored content segments with full control. Originally launched in 2023, ContextGPT was the first platform to apply deep learning and AI reasoning to contextual targeting, moving far beyond simple keyword matching. It now uses large language models to analyze content at a page-level with human-like comprehension, enabling advertisers to reach audiences based on actual context rather than broad topics or inaccurate signals. This shift transforms contextual advertising from a brand-safety measure into a high-performance strategy. The platform’s Relevance Engine has also been significantly upgraded. Unlike traditional tools that apply a one-size-fits-all definition of relevance, ContextGPT uses lightweight models trained on large language models to adapt to specific advertiser goals. Whether the focus is on audience demographics, content tone, subject matter, or semantic meaning, the system dynamically adjusts to match intent. For example, a planner can request “football content for Gen Z in a casual, conversational tone,” and the platform will prioritize pages that meet those criteria—accurately, efficiently, and privately. Early results show the new system achieves up to 40% greater accuracy compared to standard relevance methods. Advertisers can fine-tune performance by adjusting precision and scale thresholds and maintain full URL-level visibility for complete transparency. Andrew Sisk, Manager, Performance Planning at IPG’s Initiative, praised the platform’s impact: “ContextGPT has transformed how we turn brand needs into precise targeting. It preserves the subtle nuances that are often lost in traditional methods and has elevated both relevance and campaign performance—especially in complex areas like pharma advertising.” Aaron Andalman, PhD in Neuroscience and co-founder of Cognitiv, emphasized the platform’s real-world impact: “We’re turning the latest AI advances into practical tools marketers can use today. ContextGPT gives brands the power of AI-driven insight combined with human control—delivering scale, precision, and transparency. It’s already delivering measurable results in live campaigns.” The original ContextGPT saw adoption double in the past year, driving significant efficiency gains. To meet growing demand and expand capabilities, Cognitiv announced an expanded collaboration with OpenAI in March. Cognitiv, a leader in AI-powered performance advertising since 2015, continues to push the boundaries of how brands connect with consumers. Its Deep Learning Advertising Platform operates as a dynamic deal through any DSP, a managed service DSP, or via the industry-first ContextGPT product. The company is committed to bringing intelligence to advertising—making every impression more relevant, impactful, and scalable.
