EMEA Telecom and Media Firms Boost AI and Cloud Adoption to Drive Innovation and Compliance

Telecom and media and entertainment (M&E) organizations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) are rapidly accelerating their adoption of AI, cloud computing, 5G, and edge technologies to modernize operations, meet regulatory demands, and unlock new revenue streams, according to two new reports from Information Services Group (ISG). The 2025 ISG Provider Lens® Telecom — Managed and Next-gen IT Services report and the 2025 ISG Provider Lens® Media and Entertainment — Managed and Next-gen IT Services report highlight how enterprises in both sectors are transforming their infrastructure and workflows. Telecom operators in EMEA are shifting toward open ecosystem models to address stagnant revenue growth and rising operational complexity. These organizations are increasingly relying on strategic partners and platforms to deliver enterprise services, while striving to maintain control and avoid overdependence on hyperscale cloud providers. A key focus is simplifying legacy operations support systems (OSS) and business support systems (BSS), with many adopting AI-driven IT operations (AIOps) to automate processes. These efforts have led to measurable improvements, including 30% to 70% reductions in mean time to repair (MTTR) and up to 65% faster onboarding of new services. In the M&E sector, companies are modernizing content supply chains by embracing cloud-native platforms, automation, and data-driven workflows. This shift enables faster time-to-air, lower operating costs, and scalable multiplatform distribution. Enterprises are moving away from siloed broadcast and creative systems toward integrated, interoperable environments that support remote production, localization, and hybrid delivery. AI is playing a central role in enhancing workflows, with applications in automated quality control, metadata enrichment, and workflow orchestration. M&E firms are also leveraging analytics and AI for content commissioning, advertising optimization, and audience targeting. These capabilities are improving monetization through personalized content, contextual ads, and direct-to-consumer platform enhancements. Results include higher viewer engagement and reduced content abandonment, aligning with broader goals of cost efficiency and consistent viewing quality. According to Yash Jethani, principal analyst at ISG, organizations are not only focused on cost savings but are also using generative AI and agentic AI workflows to drive innovation. The emphasis is on achieving tangible outcomes such as improved asset return on investment, stronger data governance, and compliance with evolving regulations. The reports also highlight growing interest in sovereign cloud solutions and data governance frameworks, especially for multinational operations. Sustainability is emerging as a key consideration in digital infrastructure and content production.
