Fitbit Co-founders Launch Luffu, an AI-Powered Family Health Platform for Unified Care and Insights
James Park and Eric Friedman, the co-founders of Fitbit who departed from Google two years ago, have unveiled a new health technology venture called Luffu. Positioned as an “intelligent family care system,” Luffu is designed to help families monitor and manage the health of all their members in one unified platform. The system aggregates health and medical data from a range of sources, including connected devices, Apple Health, Fitbit, and other digital health platforms. It also accepts information shared directly by family members through voice commands, text entries, or photos. Behind the scenes, AI processes this information to automatically extract, categorize, and organize key health details. Users can interact with Luffu by asking personalized questions—such as how a dietary change might impact a child’s sleep quality, whether a family member took their prescribed medication, or how to best prepare for a doctor’s visit. The platform can even help answer medical questions during emergencies by pulling together relevant health history in seconds, eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps. Beyond reactive queries, Luffu uses AI to proactively detect shifts in health patterns. It can send timely insights and alerts—for example, notifying a parent if a medication was missed, or flagging subtle changes in vital signs that could signal an emerging health concern. Currently in private testing, Luffu is accessible via a mobile app, with plans to eventually introduce complementary hardware devices. The goal is to create a seamless ecosystem that offers families greater peace of mind, especially when managing the health of children, elderly relatives, or those with chronic conditions. Interested users can join a waitlist through the Luffu website.
