Zoom CEO Eric Yuan Predicts AI Will Cut Workweek to 3-4 Days, Envisioning Digital Twins and Smarter Work Tools

Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan believes artificial intelligence will ultimately enable a shorter workweek, potentially reducing it to three or four days within five years. Speaking at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2025 conference on Monday, Yuan highlighted how AI is reshaping the future of work and driving innovation across Zoom’s product suite. He showcased Zoom’s latest AI advancements, including a “digital twin” feature that allows users to send an AI-powered avatar to represent them in meetings. Yuan himself used the technology during a recent earnings call with investors, demonstrating how AI can extend the boundaries of communication and collaboration. AI remains the central focus of Zoom’s strategy, with Yuan emphasizing that nearly every major meeting at the company centers on AI and how to build the right products to meet evolving needs. “AI, AI, and AI,” he said when asked about current investments, underscoring the company’s deep commitment to the technology. Beyond video conferencing, Yuan envisioned broader applications for AI companions. He described a future where two executives negotiating a contract could first send their digital twins to collaborate and draft terms, reducing the need for lengthy live calls. He also discussed how AI could manage workflows by reviewing emails, identifying urgent messages, and helping users determine which ones require a response. Yuan sees AI as a key enabler across Zoom’s ecosystem, including tools like its online whiteboard and collaborative document features. “Today, I have to manually focus on all those products to get work done,” he said. “Eventually, AI will help. By doing that, we do not need to work five days a week anymore, right?… Five years out, three days or four days a week. That’s a goal.”
