Picsart launches AI agent marketplace for creators
Picsart has launched an AI agent marketplace designed to empower its 130 million users, predominantly Gen Z creators and social media managers, by allowing them to hire AI assistants for specific design tasks. This move positions Picsart as an evolution beyond platforms like Canva, leveraging the current boom in the creator economy and the growing demand for agentic AI chatbots capable of autonomous execution. Hovhannes Avoyan, Picsart founder and CEO, stated that the new agents shift the dynamic where creators are forced to operate every workflow manually. Under the new system, users set the strategic direction while the agents use real data to build plans, execute tasks, and await approval. The initial launch features four specialized agents: Flair, Resize Pro, Remix, and Swap. Flair acts as an assistant for online store owners by integrating with Shopify to analyze market trends and suggest improvements, such as editing product photos for visual cohesion. Future updates will enable Flair to conduct A/B tests and identify underperforming products proactively. Resize Pro handles the technical challenge of adapting images and videos to various platform dimensions, using generative AI to extend frames intelligently rather than relying on simple cropping. Remix allows users to transform their photo libraries to match specific artistic styles like vintage film or cyberpunk, while also offering bulk background replacement capabilities. To enhance accessibility, Picsart has integrated these agents with messaging platforms WhatsApp and Telegram. This allows users to interact with their AI assistants anywhere, from a desk to public transit, utilizing APIs that enable seamless chatbot setup. Addressing potential risks associated with large language models, such as hallucinations or unintended actions, Picsart introduces configurable autonomy levels. Users can require their explicit approval before an agent executes certain actions, reducing the likelihood of errors or prompt injection attacks. The business model mirrors Picsart's existing structure, offering a free tier with limited weekly AI credits. Access to full agent functionality generally requires a premium subscription, which costs approximately $10 per month when billed annually. As the company plans to introduce more specialized agents on a weekly basis, this marketplace aims to solidify Picsart's relevance by transitioning from a simple editing tool to an autonomous creative partner.
