MITO AI Raises $4.5M to Launch AI-Powered Film Production Platform for Creators
MITO AI has raised $4.5 million in a pre-seed round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners to launch a new AI-powered project management platform designed specifically for filmmakers. The company is set to officially launch its product on Thursday after testing with around 200 beta partners. Founded by Iñaki Berenguer, Arantxa Barcia, and Danny Saltaren, MITO AI positions itself as an AI-native platform for video creators, aiming to streamline the entire filmmaking process—from storyboarding and scripting to asset generation and post-production. The platform integrates with major AI models including Runway, Google’s Veo 3, ComfyUI, and Pika, enabling users to generate AI assets that match their project’s visual style. Unlike many AI video tools limited to short clips, MITO focuses on helping creators assemble multiple AI-generated segments into cohesive, longer-form projects. It features an infinite canvas that functions as a collaborative workspace—similar to Miro or Figma—where teams can comment, share assets, and experiment in real time. The platform also supports hybrid workflows, allowing filmmakers to combine live-action footage with AI-generated content. MITO’s AI director can execute creative actions automatically, such as suggesting camera angles, lighting setups, or shot compositions based on script breakdowns. It also includes tools for managing visual effects, tracking props and characters, and handling post-production deliverables across multiple platforms. The company operates two main arms: MITO Films, its in-house AI studio that produces content for partners, and the MITO Workflow Platform, which serves as the core tool for independent creators and production teams. Users can also showcase their work through a built-in portfolio landing page. MITO’s pitch deck outlines a vision of “multiplayer video creation,” where teams collaborate seamlessly in a shared digital space. Early feedback from beta users has been positive, with testers praising the platform’s intuitive interface and integration capabilities. The company highlights a growing market opportunity as AI reshapes media production. Hollywood studios and advertisers are adopting AI for visual effects and commercials, while independent creators use the technology to produce high-quality content affordably. However, concerns remain about job displacement among actors, animators, and other creatives. MITO enters a competitive space already populated by established players like Adobe and emerging startups such as FLORA, which recently raised $42 million. Still, MITO differentiates itself by focusing on the full production lifecycle and emphasizing collaboration, consistency, and cost control. The company plans to launch its platform in Q1 2026. With its $4.5 million pre-seed funding, MITO aims to scale its team, enhance AI integrations, and expand its studio services.
