AI Students Embrace Red Heritage, Shape Technology-Driven Futures
On the afternoon of November 5, the second session of the third party class for the 2nd batch of active members in the Communist Party of China at the Hui Ling School of Artificial Intelligence was successfully held. The party class, titled "Inheriting the Red Gene and Strengthening Ideological Beliefs," was delivered by Li Yanli, the Party Secretary of the school, who combined the red heritage of Renmin University of China with the mission of young people in the new era. The lecture offered a profound and rich theoretical learning experience for all trainees in the program, and was hosted by Zhang Yuming, the school’s Party Committee Vice Secretary. Li Yanli began by addressing the fundamental question: "Why do we want to join the Party?" She emphasized that a correct motivation for joining the Party is the foundation of a member’s ideological integrity. She warned that if the motivation is not pure, the foundation is weak, and one cannot withstand the trials of time and adversity. She then led the students in reflecting on the入党 journeys of pioneers such as Qian Xuesen, Lei Feng, Jiao Yulu, and Qiu Shaoyun, highlighting that each generation of Chinese Communists has been united by a shared aspiration: the pursuit of national prosperity, national rejuvenation, and the well-being of the people. The common thread among them, she said, is a profound sense of public duty, a strong sense of national and collective responsibility, and a commitment to the greater good. Next, Li Yanli delved into the red gene of Renmin University of China. She explained that this legacy is not only rooted in ideological leadership and organizational cohesion, but also in a deep, enduring faith. She encouraged students to draw strength from the university’s red history, emphasizing three key points: first, to follow advanced theories as a guiding banner—read original works, study core principles, and build a solid theoretical foundation; second, to stay closely aligned with the Party’s leadership, working in unity and synergy to create collective momentum; and third, to remain loyal to the Party in both words and actions, upholding the lifeblood of a Party member’s integrity. On the question of self-discipline, Li Yanli stressed the importance of strengthening party spirit, cultivating excellent conduct, and strictly abiding by party rules and regulations—practicing "self-discipline in solitude" and personal responsibility. In connection with the students’ academic background, she guided them in studying the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the "Proposal of the CPC Central Committee on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development," and the "Opinion of the State Council on Deeply Implementing the 'Artificial Intelligence+' Action." She urged young scholars to align their professional studies with national strategies, to grasp the integration of innovation and industry in cutting-edge fields such as information technology and artificial intelligence, and to cultivate lofty ideals. She encouraged them to dedicate themselves to mastering their disciplines, to foster innovation, and to take responsibility in overcoming key technological bottlenecks and advancing national scientific and technological self-reliance. The session concluded with a powerful message: through compelling stories of role models, in-depth theoretical analysis, and practical guidance, the class helped students clarify their motivations, deepen their party spirit, and recognize their responsibilities. Attendees expressed that this session marked a new starting point in their journey. They pledged to continuously refine themselves, internalize the red gene, and put it into practice, striving to become the kind of young people capable of shouldering the historic mission of national rejuvenation and making meaningful contributions to China’s scientific and technological advancement.
