Google Expands Gemini Integration in Chrome to iPhone and iPad with New AI Features
Google has expanded the integration of its Gemini AI features into the iOS version of Chrome, bringing tools previously available on desktop to iPhone and iPad users. The update follows the initial rollout on desktop Chrome in September, with the new capabilities now gradually appearing on Apple’s mobile devices. When active, the Gemini integration adds a new icon to the left side of the address bar—replacing the former Google Lens icon. The new icon features a notebook-like design with the Gemini star symbol in one corner. Tapping it allows users to ask questions about the current webpage or request a summary of its content, all without leaving the page. While the functionality is still more limited than what’s available in the standalone Gemini app or web version, it offers a convenient way to get quick insights directly from the browser. This can be especially helpful for users who want fast answers or summaries without switching apps. To use the feature, users must be signed in to their Google account on the iOS Chrome app. The integration does not work in Incognito mode and is currently only available in English. If users still see the Google Lens icon instead of the Gemini one, they should update Chrome from the App Store and check again. Google has noted that the rollout is ongoing and not yet available to all users, with the company stating the feature is being “rolled out to users over time.”
