Siemens and NVIDIA Expand Partnership to Develop Industrial AI Operating System

Siemens and NVIDIA have announced a major expansion of their strategic partnership to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence into industrial and physical systems, aiming to transform how products are designed, built, and operated across industries. The collaboration centers on creating an “Industrial AI operating system” that combines NVIDIA’s AI infrastructure, simulation tools, and generative AI models with Siemens’ industrial software, hardware, and deep domain expertise. The goal is to close the gap between digital design and physical execution, enabling real-time optimization and intelligent automation. Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, emphasized that the partnership is redefining industrial workflows by enabling faster innovation, adaptive production, and more sustainable manufacturing. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, highlighted that generative AI and accelerated computing are driving a new industrial revolution, turning digital twins from static simulations into active, intelligent systems that can guide real-world operations. A key focus of the partnership is the development of fully AI-driven, adaptive manufacturing sites, with the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen, Germany, set to become the first global blueprint by 2026. These smart factories will be powered by an “AI Brain” — a system that continuously analyzes digital twins, tests improvements in simulation, and deploys validated changes directly to the shop floor. This approach enables faster decision-making, reduces commissioning time and risk, and boosts productivity. To support this vision, Siemens will accelerate its entire simulation portfolio with GPU computing and expand integration with NVIDIA’s CUDA-X libraries and AI physics models. The companies will also advance generative simulation using NVIDIA’s PhysicsNeMo and open models, enabling autonomous digital twins that can optimize designs and operations in real time. In semiconductor design, the partnership will significantly speed up electronic design automation (EDA) workflows. By integrating NVIDIA’s CUDA-X libraries, PhysicsNeMo, and GPU acceleration into Siemens’ EDA tools, the companies aim to achieve 2-10x improvements in verification, layout, and process optimization. AI-assisted features like layout guidance, debug support, and circuit optimization will enhance engineering efficiency while ensuring manufacturability. The collaboration also includes joint development of a repeatable blueprint for next-generation AI factories. These facilities will be designed to meet the high-density computing demands of AI workloads, with optimized power, cooling, and automation systems. The solution will integrate NVIDIA’s Omniverse-based simulation and AI infrastructure with Siemens’ expertise in electrification, grid integration, and industrial automation, supporting energy efficiency, resilience, and rapid deployment. Both companies will use the partnership to improve their own operations. NVIDIA will evaluate Siemens’ systems to streamline its internal processes, while Siemens will apply AI to optimize its own workloads and customer solutions. This mutual acceleration provides real-world proof of the technology’s scalability and value. Early adopters of the new capabilities include Foxconn, HD Hyundai, KION Group, and PepsiCo, which are already testing the platform. The partnership represents a significant step toward a future where AI is not just a tool for data analysis, but a core driver of industrial innovation, efficiency, and sustainability. By uniting cutting-edge AI with deep industrial knowledge, Siemens and NVIDIA are laying the foundation for a new era of intelligent, adaptive manufacturing.
