Altruist Launches AI-Powered Tax Planning in Hazel, Enabling Advisors to Deliver Personalized Strategies in Minutes

Altruist, the tech-forward wealth platform for independent financial advisors, has launched a new AI-powered tax planning feature within Hazel, its intelligent platform designed to transform advisory practices. The new capability enables advisors to generate fully personalized tax strategies in minutes by analyzing complex client data—including 1040 tax returns, paystubs, account statements, meeting notes, emails, and information from custodial and CRM systems—while applying advanced tax logic to deliver actionable insights. “Tax planning is one of the most impactful services advisors offer, yet it’s often time-consuming and mentally taxing, especially during peak tax season,” said Jason Wenk, Founder and CEO of Altruist. “Hazel’s new tax planning feature changes that. It empowers a single advisor to handle far more clients with higher-quality strategies, making average advice significantly harder to justify.” The platform also includes interactive scenario modeling, allowing advisors to explore “what-if” situations—such as the tax implications of a bonus, home sale, retirement transition, or lifestyle change—while receiving real-time updates on projected outcomes. Advisors can generate polished reports or present findings directly to clients, enhancing transparency and engagement. All Hazel features operate under strict data privacy standards. The AI models used in Hazel are governed by zero data retention agreements, meaning no client or firm data is stored or used to train AI systems. Data remains secure within Altruist’s enterprise-grade infrastructure, which includes robust encryption and comprehensive security protocols. Importantly, Hazel’s tax planning functionality is available to all advisory firms, regardless of whether they custody assets with Altruist. This marks the first in a series of planned enhancements to the platform’s planning capabilities, with more advanced tools expected in the coming months. Hazel is designed to unify diverse sources of information—client conversations, emails, documents, CRM data, calendars, market data, regulatory updates, and custodial feeds—to automate routine advisory tasks. It can summarize meetings, draft follow-ups, prioritize actions, create personalized tax plans, and anticipate next steps, helping advisors build deeper client relationships and deliver better outcomes. Since its launch in September 2025, Hazel has been adopted by over 1,000 wealth management firms. The platform does not provide tax advice, and all content is for informational purposes only. Altruist is a digital wealth platform that combines a self-clearing brokerage with intuitive software for account opening, trading, portfolio management, billing, and reporting. It enables independent advisors to build custom portfolios, trade fractional shares, automate rebalancing, and deliver a seamless client experience through web and mobile apps.
