Alphabet Co-founders Page and Brin Surge in Wealth, Now Second and Third Richest After Musk Amid AI Boom and Stock Surge

Alphabet co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin have seen their fortunes surge dramatically this year, making them the second- and third-richest people in the world, behind only Elon Musk. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Page’s net worth stands at $265 billion and Brin’s at $246 billion as of Monday’s market close—figures that place them ahead of Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Oracle’s Larry Ellison, and Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg. Since the start of January, Page has added $97 billion to his wealth, while Brin has gained $88 billion, resulting in a combined increase of $185 billion. This surge has propelled them from sixth and seventh place on the list just five months ago—when their net worths were below $175 billion and year-to-date gains were under $5 billion—to their current positions. The dramatic rise is largely driven by Alphabet’s stock, which has climbed over 50% since mid-August, jumping from around $200 to record highs above $300. With a market capitalization of $3.7 trillion, Alphabet owns major subsidiaries including Google, YouTube, Waymo, and DeepMind. Page and Brin each hold approximately 6% of Alphabet, giving them substantial exposure to the company’s stock performance. Their wealth growth has been fueled by renewed investor confidence in Alphabet’s AI ambitions, particularly following strong market reactions to the launch of Google’s new AI model, Gemini 3. The positive reception has rekindled hopes that Alphabet can challenge leaders like OpenAI and regain momentum in the AI race. Additional factors contributing to the stock rally include a major partnership with Anthropic, a reduction in concerns over antitrust scrutiny, and a broader market enthusiasm for AI-driven companies. While some analysts warn the current tech boom may be overheated, the surge has significantly enriched key shareholders like Page and Brin. Together, Page and Brin are worth $511 billion—more than the market value of major S&P 500 companies such as Exxon Mobil, Bank of America, and Netflix. They remain $127 billion behind Musk, who holds a net worth of $638 billion.
