Google’s AI Mode Gets Agentic Powers to Book Tickets and Appointments

Google has introduced new agentic capabilities to AI Mode, its advanced search feature that enables users to ask complex, follow-up questions and explore topics in greater depth directly within Google Search. The latest update allows users to book event tickets and beauty and wellness appointments through AI Mode, making it easier to plan and execute real-world tasks. For instance, users can now type a request like, “Find me 2 cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert coming up, preferably standing floor tickets.” AI Mode will then search across multiple ticketing websites in real time, identify available options that match the criteria, and present a curated list of prices and details. From there, users can click a direct link to the booking page to complete their purchase. These new features are currently available to users in the U.S. who are enrolled in Google’s experimental Search Labs program. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers have access to higher usage limits, allowing for more extensive interactions. This expansion builds on AI Mode’s initial agentic launch in August, when it first enabled users to find restaurant reservations based on multiple preferences—such as party size, date, time, location, and cuisine. For example, a user could ask, “Find me a dinner reservation for 3 people this Friday after 6 p.m. around Logan Square, craving ramen or bibimbap.” The system would then scan across various reservation platforms, locate real-time availability, and return a list of matching options. Google emphasized that while these capabilities are designed to be helpful and efficient, they are still in the experimental phase. “Our priority in Google Search is connecting you with high-quality information you can rely on,” the company stated on its Search Labs page. “This new mode is rooted in our core quality and safety systems, but it’s still an early experiment and may make mistakes.” AI Mode was first introduced in March as a response to the growing popularity of AI-powered search tools like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since its launch, it has rolled out to over 180 countries and has been steadily enhanced with new features. Recently, it gained access to a Canvas function that helps users create study plans and organize information across multiple sessions in a side panel. It also now supports Google Lens integration, allowing users to ask questions about content visible on their desktop screens.
