Zebra Technologies Unveils Advanced Intelligent Automation Solutions at Automate 2025 to Boost Frontline Productivity and Efficiency
Zebra Technologies Corporation, a global leader in digitizing and automating frontline workflows, is presenting its latest intelligent automation solutions at Automate 2025, held from May 12-15 at Detroit’s Huntington Place. The company is showcasing a suite of innovations aimed at enhancing visibility and productivity in manufacturing and warehouse operations. One highlight is the new Aurora VGR Assistant, a software add-on for Zebra’s existing Aurora Design Assistant. This tool simplifies the configuration and deployment of vision-guided robotics (VGR) tasks, making it easier to integrate 2D robot guidance and machine vision inspection in a single platform. Common VGR applications targeted by this software include machine tending, packaging, and guiding assembly tools, all of which benefit from streamlined setup and deployment processes. Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment, another key solution, is an advanced autonomous mobile robot (AMR)-assisted picking system designed to boost warehouse productivity while cutting costs. It integrates Zebra Connect Fulfillment AMRs, wearable technologies, software, and analytics to create an AI-driven picking solution. Unlike traditional systems where AMRs stay attached to carts, Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment allows workers to load and unload orders flexibly, reducing the number of AMRs needed by up to 30%. This flexibility and efficiency are particularly beneficial in high-volume environments. At the conference, Zebra is also showcasing the AltiZ 4200 3D profile sensor, a compact and ultra-high-resolution device built for tight fields of view. The sensor captures more data points per profile at faster speeds, making it ideal for quality assurance tasks in industries like electronics and automotive manufacturing. Its ability to perform detailed inspections quickly and accurately enhances overall production efficiency and reliability. Photoneo, recently acquired by Zebra, is demonstrating its MotionCam-3D (Blue) in the booth. This 3D VGR solution is a significant advancement in robotic guidance, especially for precision picking tasks. Equipped with Photoneo's Bin Picking software, the MotionCam-3D (Blue) can guide robotic arms to pick metal parts from various depths and angles, providing real-time, high-fidelity 3D data streams. This capability ensures more accurate and efficient material handling in complex environments. Visitors to the Zebra booth can also experience an RFID interactive demo that tracks customer orders from receiving to shipping. This demo uses Zebra’s MC3390xR, a long-range, Android-based RFID reader, and the FXR90 ultra-rugged RFID reader to improve inventory audit and order picking accuracy. By offering real-time tracking and verification, the RFID solution helps frontline workers save time and minimize errors throughout the supply chain. Zebra’s 2024 Manufacturing Vision Study highlights a growing trend toward digital transformation in the manufacturing sector. According to the study, 92% of manufacturers have prioritized digital initiatives, and 61% expect AI to drive growth by 2029, up from 41% in 2024. Similarly, the Warehouse Vision Study indicates that seven out of ten warehouse leaders plan to accelerate the modernization of their workflows and invest heavily in supply chain visibility over the next five years. The adoption of AI-driven strategies and solutions like machine vision, RFID, and AMRs is expected to optimize essential business processes, improving both quality and operational efficiency. During Automate 2025, Zebra will host several sessions to further explain how these solutions can be implemented to support the intelligent automation journey of businesses. These sessions aim to provide practical insights and best practices for integrating automation technologies into current operations. Andy Zosel, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Intelligent Automation at Zebra Technologies, emphasized the importance of visibility in driving transformation. "Visibility is the first step to transformation, and the adoption of AI and intelligent automation enables manufacturers and warehouse leaders to leverage data more effectively to identify, react, and prioritize problems and projects, delivering new efficiencies for maximum impact," he stated. Zosel explained that Zebra’s solutions are designed to empower frontline workers by increasing productivity and throughput to unprecedented levels. Industry insiders have responded positively to Zebra’s showcase, noting the company's strong commitment to innovation and the practical benefits of its integrated solutions. Zebra’s focus on reducing complexity in automation through user-friendly software and robust hardware aligns well with the growing needs of manufacturers and warehouse operators. The acquisition of Photoneo and the introduction of the Aurora VGR Assistant and Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment reflect Zebra’s strategic efforts to expand its portfolio and maintain its leadership in the field of intelligent automation.
