Vrbo Launches VrboCare and New Quality Standards to Elevate Vacation Rental Experience

Vrbo has unveiled a major overhaul of its vacation rental platform, introducing new standards and features designed to address the top concern among travelers: stays that don’t meet expectations. As the holiday travel season approaches, the company is rolling out a suite of improvements aimed at delivering a more consistent, reliable, and stress-free booking experience. At the heart of the update is VrboCare, the rebranded version of Vrbo’s long-standing Book with Confidence Guarantee. This industry-first protection policy now offers expanded rebooking support, extending eligibility from 30 to 90 days for guests affected by host-initiated cancellations, check-in issues, fraud, or significant property misrepresentation. The service is included at no extra cost with every booking. To help travelers make smarter choices, Vrbo is introducing enhanced quality indicators. The new “Loved by Guests” badge highlights listings with outstanding ratings—9.4 or higher—for cleanliness, location, listing accuracy, and check-in ease. A new “Premier Host” filter and badge will help guests identify top-performing hosts, with stricter requirements for recognition. Starting in January, hosts must maintain a 99% acceptance rate, a 0% cancellation rate, and a 9.2+ average review score to qualify. The badge will now be applied at the individual listing level, not the host level, for greater accuracy. Vrbo is also improving listing transparency by ensuring only verified guests can leave reviews, which are never altered by the company. Guests can now rate listing accuracy as part of their review, helping future travelers assess the reliability of photos and descriptions. The shopping experience has been further enhanced with AI-powered tools that help guests find the best matches based on their preferences. Real-time support is available 24/7 through Vrbo’s customer service team, accessible via the app’s Help Center, the VrboCare page, booking confirmation emails, and live chat or Virtual Agent on the homepage. These changes reflect Vrbo’s commitment to rebuilding trust in the vacation rental category after years of inconsistency. With over 750 million monthly visits to Expedia Group sites, Vrbo continues to be a leading global marketplace connecting travelers with quality accommodations and dedicated hosts.
