AMGTA Summit Honors Members for Innovative Contributions to Sustainable Manufacturing

The AMGTA Annual Member Summit Promotes Sustainable Additive Manufacturing Detroit - The Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA), a global trade organization dedicated to promoting sustainability and resource-efficient manufacturing through 3D printing and other additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, hosted its 2025 Annual Member Summit on April 7 at the Shinola Hotel in Detroit. Over 80 representatives from around the world attended the event, sharing insights into practical applications and technical advancements. Rich Voorberg, President of Siemens Energy North America, delivered a keynote speech on how AM capabilities are transforming spare parts inventory, refurbishment, and maintenance by simplifying supply chains and creating bottom-line value. In a one-on-one discussion, AMGTA Executive Director Sherri Monroe and Dean Bartles, President and CEO of the Manufacturing Technology Deployment Group, delved into the current state of advanced additive manufacturing in the United States and globally. Other panel discussions covered topics such as using artificial intelligence (AI) for more sustainable and efficient manufacturing, the technical and organizational challenges of technology integration, and opportunities arising from market uncertainties and global volatility. AMGTA recognized member organizations for their sustainability achievements in four categories, also acknowledging some members for their contributions across multiple categories over the past year. The honors include: Environmental Management System: Continuous compliance with ISO 14001 EMS certification standards. Sustainability Reporting: Public release of sustainability/environmental, social, and governance (ESG)/corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports. Environmental Sustainability Research: Commissioning and publishing research focused on environmental sustainability in AM. Excellence in Additive Manufacturing Sustainability: Initiatives that enhance awareness and influence of AM to promote more sustainable manufacturing globally. The summit awarded 25 honors to 13 member organizations, including the Aachen Center for Additive Manufacturing, Arkema, Continuum Powders, Aidro / Desktop Metal, EOS, Henkel, Höganäs, Hubbell, Materialise, RusselSmith, Sintavia, Stratasys, and Stryker. AMGTA's sustainability awards aim to acknowledge and encourage significant contributions from member organizations in advancing AM technologies and practices, fostering better, more sustainable, and economically advantageous manufacturing worldwide. This year’s trophy was created using Stratasys' SAF ReLife technology, 3D printed from PA12 polymer powder waste. This innovative approach not only reduces waste but also addresses a key challenge for manufacturers: achieving both sustainability and economic feasibility. SAF ReLife helps companies create more environmentally friendly manufacturing processes aligned with Mindful Manufacturing™ principles, lowering operational costs while advancing the circular economy. The SAF ReLife project offers a groundbreaking solution to one of the most significant challenges in 3D printing and AM—waste management. Using Stratasys’ proprietary Selective AbsorptionFuse (SAF) technology, SAF ReLife can recycle PA12 powder waste generated from other powder bed fusion techniques like Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Multi Jet Fusion (MJF). Advanced thermal control ensures that what would otherwise be unusable material can be transformed into high-quality functional parts without additional material costs. About AMGTA Founded in 2019, AMGTA aims to better understand and promote the environmental benefits of AM in the global economy. Its members represent the entire manufacturing spectrum, from design and raw materials to final products and end-users, focusing on innovation around best practices in AM to produce higher quality, more sustainable, and economically viable products.
