ChatGPT Handles Over 2.5 Billion Daily Prompts, With 330 Million from U.S. Users

OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, is handling more than 2.5 billion user prompts every day, with 330 million of those coming from users in the United States, according to data reported by Axios. This translates to over 912.5 billion annual requests, a staggering figure that underscores the chatbot’s meteoric rise in popularity. OpenAI spokesperson Rob Friedlander confirmed to The Verge that these numbers are accurate. While ChatGPT's annual request volume is still far behind Google's 5 trillion searches, its rapid growth has caught the attention of the search giant. In just a few months, the number of weekly users for ChatGPT surged from 300 million in December to over 500 million by March. Adding to the competitive landscape, earlier this month Reuters reported that OpenAI is preparing to launch an AI-powered web browser in the coming weeks, which would directly challenge Google Chrome. This move follows the recent introduction of ChatGPT Agent, a tool designed to execute various tasks on users' computers, further enhancing the platform's capabilities. These developments highlight OpenAI's aggressive strategy to expand its AI offerings and solidify its position in the tech industry, making it a formidable contender against established players like Google.
