Microsoft’s New AI Agent Simplifies Windows Settings Adjustments for Insiders
With the vast array of settings in Windows, knowing exactly where and how to adjust something can often be a daunting task. However, Microsoft is stepping up to the plate with a new AI agent designed to simplify the process. Announced in a blog post on Friday, this AI agent can perform specific actions based on user requests, such as altering mouse pointer size or enabling voice control. If given permission, the AI will not only show you the steps but execute them for you. However, before you get too enthusiastic, it’s important to note that this AI feature is currently available only to a select group of users. As of now, it is exclusive to Windows 11 Insiders who own Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs and have their primary display language set to English. Microsoft has assured that support for eligible AMD and Intel PCs will follow soon. The AI agent was initially announced in early May, but it has now reached a stage where Windows Insiders with compatible devices can experience it firsthand. To access the agent, you need to install the latest Insider build. This update brings several other enhancements, especially for those with a Copilot+ PC. One significant addition is the ability to reset the Recall feature, which has been a point of contention among users. By navigating to Settings > Privacy & Security > Recall & Snapshots, you can find a reset button that will delete all your snapshots and Recall settings. Previously, Recall snapshots would remain indefinitely unless manually deleted, but they will now automatically vanish after 90 days. This period is adjustable through the settings, providing more control over data retention. To help users understand and utilize Recall effectively, Microsoft is offering tips and guidance. These insights are aimed at demystifying the feature and showcasing its potential benefits. Additionally, the Click to Do option in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now available for Windows 11 Insiders using a Copilot+ PC. With a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, you can send text or images to the AI and receive answers or suggestions about the content. Beyond the AI agent and Recall resets, the latest Windows 11 Insider build introduces several other enhancements. These include enhanced support for Click to Do with email addresses and new sharing options for OneDrive files stored in the cloud. The build also includes numerous bug fixes, making it an essential update for Insiders. Another notable feature is the expanded capability of Microsoft’s Copilot Vision. Previously limited to analyzing content within Microsoft Edge, Copilot Vision can now see and analyze your entire PC screen. This broader scope enhances its utility, allowing the AI to provide more comprehensive assistance. If you're a Windows 11 Insider and curious to explore these new features, make sure to install the latest build to stay ahead of the curve.
