Stephen Curry joins Google as performance advisor for Pixel, health, and AI products, helping shape new features and promote Google’s hardware and AI tools.
Google has announced a long-term partnership with NBA superstar Stephen Curry, bringing him on as a performance advisor for its Health, Pixel, and Cloud products. The collaboration was unveiled during the Made by Google event, highlighting Curry’s role in shaping hardware, features, and AI-driven services across the company’s ecosystem. As part of his new role, Curry will work closely with Google’s health and AI teams to test and refine upcoming products, including the new Fitbit personal health coach. This AI-powered feature, built on Google’s Gemini technology, offers users customized workout plans and health metrics based on individual goals. Curry and his team of experts are already contributing insights on coaching methodologies that could help make the tool more effective and accessible for everyday users. “Stephen’s elite insights and our AI technology aren’t just for sports — our work together will show how anyone can use these products and features to maintain a healthier lifestyle and get more done,” said Rick Osterloh, Google’s head of platforms and devices. He added that Curry’s hands-on involvement has already begun, with regular collaboration between Curry’s team and Google’s engineers and health experts. As part of the agreement, Curry and his team will use Google’s full hardware lineup, including Pixel smartphones, watches, and earbuds. He’s also integrating AI tools like Google Cloud’s AI Basketball Coach into his youth training programs, a system designed to help athletes improve their shooting form and technique—though Curry may not need much help, given his legendary 42% career three-point shooting percentage. While the partnership is expected to include branded content and promotional appearances, the real test will be whether Curry’s input leads to meaningful product improvements. Google has emphasized that this collaboration is about more than celebrity endorsement—it’s about leveraging elite performance expertise to make AI and health technology more practical and impactful for everyday people.
