Google Pixel's New Camera Education Mode Helps Users Master Expert-Level Photography Techniques
For many consumers, camera quality is a crucial factor when choosing a new smartphone. However, navigating the myriad of camera features can often be bewildering. To address this, Google has introduced a new Camera Education mode in the Google Pixel series that aims to help users master their device’s photographic capabilities. This feature was initially announced as part of Google’s 2025 Pixel Feature Drop but did not launch immediately. Now, it is beginning to roll out, providing a comprehensive guide to Pixel’s camera functions. To access the guide, simply tap the new "?" button located in the top right corner of the camera app. Once inside, you’ll find a list of every camera mode available, such as panorama, astrophotography, Night Sight, and macro focus. Tapping on any mode reveals a section with real-life photos taken by other Pixel users, along with detailed step-by-step instructions on how to use that particular mode effectively. The guide also offers helpful tips for various features, including Pro Mode, which allows users to adjust settings like ISO and shutter speed for more precise control. Pixel phones have consistently ranked among the best in the market when it comes to camera performance over the past few years. Given this reputation, it’s no surprise that Google wants to ensure users are fully aware of and can leverage the advanced capabilities at their disposal. Although the feature hasn’t yet appeared on my phone—despite having the latest camera updates and Android 16—I’ve seen screenshots from other users who already have it. Even with my background in photography, using both smartphones and DSLRs, I found the guide to be surprisingly useful. If you haven’t seen this feature pop up on your Pixel phone yet, you should expect it to arrive soon.
