Employee Navigator Acquires AI Plan Building Tech, Launches New AI Tools to Revolutionize Benefits Administration Ahead of Open Enrollment
Employee Navigator has announced the acquisition of Velocity Benefits’ AI-powered plan building software, marking a significant step forward in its mission to modernize benefits administration through artificial intelligence. The company is also launching two new AI-driven features designed to streamline operations for brokers and HR professionals ahead of the upcoming open enrollment season. The acquisition brings Velocity’s proprietary AI technology into the Employee Navigator ecosystem. This tool automatically extracts plan configuration details from carrier quotes and insurance documents, then builds complete benefit plans within the Employee Navigator platform. Joe Duckett, CEO of Velocity Benefits, highlighted the strategic importance of the move, noting that the company has been a long-time partner on the Employee Navigator platform since 2015 and that developing an AI solution was a natural evolution given the platform’s growth and scale. In addition to integrating Velocity’s technology, Employee Navigator is releasing a beta version of its own AI Plan Build tool on October 15, 2025. This new feature will allow brokers to create employee benefit plans in as little as 10 to 20 minutes—down from the current average of 3 to 4 hours. The beta will be offered free of charge for the month of October, after which users will need to purchase a license. Pricing will range from $5 to $25 per company, depending on the number of plans and the complexity of documents uploaded. George Reese, Founder and CEO of Employee Navigator, emphasized that while AI plan builds represent a major leap in efficiency, the long-term goal remains full integration with carrier-based APIs, which promise the highest levels of speed and accuracy. Still, the immediate impact of the AI tool is clear: it will help brokers manage the intense workload of open enrollment, especially given the ongoing shortage of skilled plan builders. On September 15, 2025, Employee Navigator also launched its new AI Support Assistant, designed to provide brokers and HR managers with fast, accurate answers to common questions. Unlike many AI tools, this assistant has been rigorously trained and refined over nearly a year. Every response is reviewed by the company’s team, and the system is updated daily to improve performance and reliability. Reese stressed that the company views AI not just as a speed enhancer but as a tool for building trust and accuracy in a high-stakes environment. “AI isn’t just about speed—it’s also about accuracy and trust,” he said. With over 195,000 U.S. companies and 5,000+ brokers already using its platform, Employee Navigator continues to expand its suite of services. These include carrier integrations, a comprehensive forms library acquired from Enrollease, Inc., and payroll integrations—all aimed at making it possible for any business to offer a Fortune 500-level benefits package to its employees. The company remains committed to advancing AI responsibly, acknowledging that the technology is still evolving. Its goal is to help brokers grow their revenue while reducing operational costs, all while maintaining the highest standards of service and accuracy.
