Hitachi Launches Global AI Factory with NVIDIA to Advance Physical AI Innovation Across Industries
Hitachi, Ltd. has announced the launch of a global Hitachi AI Factory powered by NVIDIA’s AI Factory reference architecture, marking a major step in advancing physical AI innovation across its core industries. The new infrastructure combines Hitachi’s deep operational technology (OT) expertise with NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI software stack to create a unified, high-performance platform for developing and deploying AI solutions that interact with the real world. The AI Factory is built on NVIDIA HGX B200 systems equipped with Blackwell GPUs, Hitachi iQ M Series systems featuring NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Server Edition GPUs, and the NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking platform. This powerful combination enables scalable, low-latency AI workloads essential for complex physical AI applications. The infrastructure supports the full NVIDIA AI stack, including AI Enterprise for production-grade AI and Omniverse for simulation, digital twins, and industrial-scale modeling. The initiative is designed to accelerate the development of Hitachi’s HMAX family of AI-powered solutions, which address critical challenges in Mobility, Energy, Industrial, and Technology sectors. By integrating real-time data from cameras and sensors, physical AI models can perceive environments, make decisions, and execute actions—enabling smarter, safer, and more efficient operations. The AI Factory is strategically distributed across the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA), and Japan, allowing Hitachi’s global engineering teams to collaborate seamlessly and access high-performance computing resources with minimal latency. This interconnected network strengthens Hitachi’s ability to innovate rapidly and scale solutions across regions. Jun Abe, General Manager of the Digital Systems & Services Division at Hitachi, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership. He highlighted how the integration of NVIDIA RTX PRO Servers enhances AI reasoning, digital twin development, and optimization of physical assets such as social infrastructure. He also noted that the AI Factory enables Hitachi to operate as a unified global organization—“One Hitachi”—driving faster innovation and greater synergy across businesses. The initiative aligns with Hitachi’s Lumada 3.0 vision, the company’s digital transformation framework that leverages data, technology, and domain expertise to solve complex business and societal challenges. By combining IT, OT, and hardware capabilities, Hitachi is positioned as a leader in Industrial AI, delivering solutions that redefine industry standards. Justin Boitano, Vice President of Enterprise AI Products at NVIDIA, praised the collaboration, calling AI Factories the engines of a new industrial revolution. He noted that Hitachi’s platform enables the creation of autonomous intelligence that bridges software and the physical world. Hitachi’s AI Factory represents a pivotal advancement in its mission to drive both digital transformation (DX) and green transformation (GX). With a strong foundation in real-world applications and a global footprint, the company is poised to deliver scalable, sustainable AI innovations that benefit businesses and society alike.
