AMP brings AI-powered robotic grinding to the U.S. with Teqram's EasyGrinder system

Teqram, a Dutch manufacturer, has deployed its AI-powered EasyGrinder robotic systems in two U.S. states as part of a partnership with Accurate Metal Products (AMP), a steel processor and fabricator. This marks the first time the company has introduced the system in the United States. AMP installed two EasyGrinder units this week, which are designed for autonomous robotic grinding used in surface preparation, meeting Level SSPC-SP5/SP11 standards. AMP owner Woody Alverson highlighted the benefits of the technology, stating that the machines help the company uphold the high standards its customers demand while improving the working conditions for its skilled employees. “It’s not about replacing people — it’s about enhancing precision and freeing up time for more valuable work,” he said. Founded in 1995, AMP is a precision steel fabricator with ISO 9001 certification and two full-service locations in the Midwest. The Milwaukee-based company serves original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in industries such as mining, energy, agriculture, and defense. AMP’s in-house capabilities include oxy-fuel, plasma, and laser cutting, as well as Blanchard grinding, abrasive blasting, and heat treating. The company described the EasyGrinder as a natural fit for its existing technology portfolio, enhancing its ability to deliver high-quality products efficiently. Teqram’s EasyGrinder is designed to automate one of the most physically demanding tasks in steel fabrication: the cleaning and finishing of flame- and plasma-cut parts. The system uses artificial intelligence and advanced 3D vision to operate without the need for complex programming, according to the Zwolle-based company. The robot identifies parts and picks them up using magnetic grippers. It then processes the parts autonomously, selecting the most appropriate tools from its automatic tool changer. The system can clean both sides of a part by flipping it with an integrated EasyFlipper. It is capable of removing slag and lead-ins, grinding and rounding edges, and cleaning interior diameters. Teqram aims to revolutionize metal processing through AI-enhanced robotic systems that make automation more accessible. Its product line includes various robotic solutions tailored for industrial applications. AMP acquired the EasyGrinder systems through Automated Fabrication Systems LLC (AFS), Teqram’s North American partner. AFS, with over 25 years of experience, provides systems that improve productivity, quality, and profitability for fabricators. The EasyGrinder robots are now in operation at AMP’s facilities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Rockford, Illinois. The company said the systems are central to its digital transformation strategy, supporting its goal of delivering production-ready components with consistent quality and reduced lead times. “This investment reflects our belief that technology and craftsmanship go hand in hand,” Alverson said. “At Accurate Metal, we’ll always prioritize quality — whatever it takes.”
