Nvidia and MediaTek Set to Unveil N1 Arm Chips for Windows PCs at Computex 2025, Retail Launch Expected in 2026

Nvidia and MediaTek are anticipated to unveil jointly developed Arm-based processors for Windows PCs at Computex 2025, as reported by ComputerBase. These processors, known as N1 and N1X, are designed for both desktops and laptops, marking Nvidia's stronger push into the Windows-on-Arm market. However, retail availability might not happen until 2026 due to ongoing technical challenges, according to Heise, which cited SemiAccurate. The CEOs of both companies, Jensen Huang from Nvidia and Rick Tsai from MediaTek, are set to give presentations at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan, on May 19 and May 20, respectively. One of the expected announcements is a new family of processors that integrate MediaTek’s Arm-based CPU with Nvidia's advanced Blackwell GPU to form the GB10 platform for compact AI workstations. This partnership aims to compete with AMD's APUs, which currently dominate the market with integrated Radeon graphics, and Qualcomm's Arm-based Snapdragon X processors. Nvidia’s discrete Blackwell GPUs are anticipated to outperform both AMD’s Radeon and Qualcomm’s Adreno graphics, offering superior performance and game compatibility. This could make these new chips highly attractive to gamers and professionals who require high-performance computing capabilities. Early information suggests that the N1X and N1 processors could include up to 10 Cortex-X925 high-performance cores and up to 10 Cortex-A725 cores. To support production, MediaTek has reportedly reserved a significant amount of packaging capacity for flip chip ball grid array (FCBGA) chips. This reservation, noted by DigiTimes, took place around the end of 2024 and is unusually large, indicating the chips are likely intended for PC applications rather than mobile devices. Despite this preparation, the exact alignment of the packaging timeline with the production of the jointly designed processors remains unclear. Despite the excitement around the Nvidia-MediaTek collaboration, the launch timeline for these processors is still uncertain. Several sources have indicated that development issues could delay the commercial rollout, potentially pushing the release date into 2026. However, these rumors have yet to be confirmed, leaving the actual market availability open to speculation.
