Acumatica, a leading provider of cloud-based business management solutions, and the LPGA Foundation have joined forces to award scholarships to two exceptional young women—Amelie Phung and Caitlyn Chin—for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program, launched in 2024, aims to empower young women excelling in golf, academics, leadership, and community service, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). John Case, CEO of Acumatica, expressed the company's pride in supporting Phung and Chin, noting their creativity, excellence, and resilience. Both recipients are nationally recognized for their achievements in golf and STEM, embodying the program's mission to nurture future female leaders and expand opportunities for women in underrepresented fields. Amelie Phung, from Boca Raton, Florida, is a nationally ranked golfer and the co-founder of STEM Prodigy, an organization that has expanded tutoring and educational outreach nationwide. Her academic prowess is evident in her status as a National Merit Scholar Finalist and Rolex Scholastic Jr. All-American. Phung is also Palm Beach County’s 2022 Girls Player of the Year and the first scholarship commit for Rice University’s inaugural women’s golf team. She intends to study mechanical engineering and pursue the university’s new bachelor’s degree in artificial intelligence (AI). Caitlyn Chin, from Greenwood Village, Colorado, is a three-time All-State golfer and an accomplished coder. She has achieved top finishes at the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and holds leadership roles on her varsity golf team. Chin has founded two entrepreneurial projects, ABC Tutors and Concerts Everywhere, and is recognized as an Advanced Placement Scholar and a Girls Who Code Web Design Awardee. She has also earned the Colorado Department of Education’s Seal of Biliteracy. Chin will attend the University of Michigan, where she plans to major in computer science and join the university’s National Collegiate Club Golf Association team. Both scholars highlighted the life lessons they have learned through golf, including the importance of balance, community service, and perseverance. Phung expressed her gratitude for the opportunities golf has provided her and her intention to leverage her AI knowledge to help optimize performance in golf and enterprise. Meanwhile, Chin drew inspiration from historical figures like Yaa Asantewaa, the Ashanti Queen, to break gender barriers and continue her advocacy for a more inclusive and sustainable world through entrepreneurship. Nancy Henderson, President of the LPGA Foundation, emphasized the partnership's focus on empowering young women and championing inclusion in sports and technology. The LPGA Foundation awards over $200,000 in scholarships annually to female high school senior golfers, aligning with its mission to Change the Face of Golf by promoting diversity and accessibility.
