Nvidia RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell Laptop GPU Outperforms Previous Gen by 14% in OpenCL Benchmark

Hardware sleuth Benchleaks has uncovered the first benchmark results for Nvidia’s RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell Laptop GPU, revealing a 14% performance improvement over its predecessor in OpenCL workloads. The GPU was identified inside the new Dell Pro Max 18 Plus mobile workstation, paired with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285HX processor. Announced in March, the RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell Laptop GPU is Nvidia’s top-tier mobile professional graphics solution based on the Blackwell architecture. It is believed to be built on the GB203 silicon, featuring 10,496 CUDA cores—25% fewer than the desktop version of the same card. Despite the reduced core count, the mobile variant achieved a boost clock of up to 1,807 MHz in the benchmark. The laptop GPU comes equipped with 24GB of GDDR7 memory, running at 28 Gbps, matching the memory specs of its desktop counterpart. However, due to a narrower memory interface—256-bit compared to the desktop’s 384-bit—the mobile version delivers a peak memory bandwidth of 896 GB/s, which is 33% lower than the desktop model. This performance gap is expected given the constraints of mobile design, including thermal and power limitations. Nevertheless, the 14% gain in OpenCL benchmarks underscores the efficiency and architectural improvements in the Blackwell generation, particularly for professional workloads like 3D rendering, simulation, and AI inference. The RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell Laptop GPU is positioned as a high-performance option for mobile workstations targeting engineers, designers, and developers who demand powerful graphics processing on the go. Its inclusion in the Dell Pro Max 18 Plus highlights a growing trend of integrating cutting-edge professional GPUs into premium laptops for demanding creative and technical applications.
