Google Expands Nonprofit Program to 100+ Countries, Adds 10+ Free AI Features to Workspace

Google for Nonprofits is set to expand its services to over 100 new countries and introduce more than 10 new no-cost AI features, enhancing its support for nonprofit organizations around the world. These updates aim to provide essential tools and resources that can significantly boost the efficiency and reach of nonprofit missions. One of the key enhancements is the addition of over 10 new AI features to Workspace for Nonprofits. This service, which already supports up to 2,000 employees or volunteers at no cost, includes familiar tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Meet, NotebookLM, and the Gemini app. The new features bolster enterprise-grade security and data protection, making the platform even more robust and reliable for nonprofit use. Among these features, NotebookLM's Audio Overviews stand out. These lively, in-depth discussions conducted by two AI hosts can summarize key topics from various sources in more than 50 languages, thus catering to a diverse global audience. Another notable feature is Gemini’s Deep Research, which can streamline the research process by automatically browsing the web, analyzing information, and generating comprehensive reports in real-time. This alone can save organizations significant amounts of time. Nonprofit organizations can also benefit from additional advanced features at highly discounted rates, often costing up to eight times less than similar AI offerings in the industry. Within the first three months of these updates, Google has observed an 180% increase in the use of the Gemini app among nonprofit staff. Organizations like Infoxchange are leveraging NotebookLM to save an entire week's worth of time per project on content programming, demonstrating the tangible benefits of these enhancements. In another significant development, Ad Grants, a program that has driven more than 14 billion visits to nonprofit websites over the past 20 years, is now expanding to include eligible Google Maps placements in Performance Max campaigns. This means that nonprofits can display ads alongside, above, or below search results on Google Maps, both on desktop and mobile. By targeting local audiences, this update is expected to increase the visibility and engagement of nonprofit efforts on a more localized scale. Performance Max Ad Grants campaigns, powered by AI, help organizations optimize their ad performance and reach more potential supporters. Since its founding, Google.org has provided more than $18 billion in product donations and nearly $6 billion in cash funding, donations, and cutting-edge research support to nonprofits globally. Today's updates underscore Google’s commitment to further empower these organizations by ensuring they have access to essential tools and resources that can accelerate their missions and drive positive change in communities worldwide.
