Rambus Unveils Next-Generation AI PC Memory Module
Rambus Announces Industry-Leading Next-Generation AI PC Memory Modules Designed for Client Chipsets San Jose, CA – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Rambus Inc. (NASDAQ: RMBS), a leading provider of chips and silicon intellectual property (IP) dedicated to faster and more secure data transmission, has announced the launch of its next-generation AI PC memory modules, specifically designed for client chipsets. The new lineup includes two advanced power management integrated circuits (PMICs): the PMIC5200 for LPDDR5 CAMM2 (LPCAMM2) memory modules and the PMIC5120 for DDR5 CSODIMM and CUDIMM memory modules. These PMICs are crucial components that ensure efficient and stable power delivery, essential for maximizing performance in advanced computing applications. The PMICs complement Rambus's client clock drivers (CKD) and serial presence detect (SPD) hubs, forming a comprehensive memory chipset solution. This solution can be used in AI PCs, ranging from laptops and desktops to workstations. With the introduction of these PMICs, Rambus now offers complete interface chipsets that support all JEDEC standard DDR5 and LPDDR5 server and client memory modules. Rami Sethi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Memory Interface Chipsets at Rambus, stated, “The rapid growth of AI in client systems is driving new demands for higher bandwidth and optimal power efficiency in memory subsystems. Rambus has established leadership with our DDR5 server PMIC series, and we are extending this by introducing two new client PMICs alongside our CKD and SPD Hub solutions. Our memory interface chipsets for LPCAMM2, DDR5 CUDIMM, and CSODIMM will help users tackle the diverse form factors, capacities, and bandwidth challenges of the exciting new AI PC platforms.” Ross Dermot, Vice President of Mobile Product Line Management at Micron’s Mobile and Client Business Unit, added, “Micron's leading LPCAMM2 technology is advancing the computational capabilities of AI PCs while disrupting the industry with unprecedented modularity and flexibility. Rambus’s latest PMIC solution is a critical component in our next-generation LPCAMM2 modules, allowing us to further enhance memory performance and solidify our leadership across all stages of LPCAMM2 development.” Dimitrios Ziakas, Vice President of Memory and IO Technology at Intel, noted, “AI PCs powered by Intel processors are ushering in a new era of productivity, creativity, and entertainment experiences. The new Intel® Core™ Ultra processor series features cutting-edge AI enhancements that significantly boost efficiency and performance. Whether in ultrathin notebooks or high-performance workstations, Rambus’s memory interface chipsets support various product configurations, enabling businesses and consumers to harness the power of AI.” According to Brandon Hoff, Senior Analyst at IDC, "The rapid evolution of AI is reshaping the PC market, driving increased demand for memory bandwidth and capacity. High-performance LPDDR5 and DDR5 modules, enabled by advanced memory interface chipsets, will be crucial in unlocking the full potential of AI." As data transfer rates continue to rise to support AI and other advanced workloads, signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) management have become increasingly important. With over 35 years of experience in high-performance memory technologies, Rambus brings extensive expertise to the SI/PI domain, ensuring that its DDR5 and LPDDR5 memory interface chipsets maintain excellent signal and power stability even in high-performance environments. This supports both server and client DIMM modules.
