While these changes might not lead to widespread unemployment, they will certainly alter job descriptions and workflows. Jesuthasan emphasized that employees will need to adapt to using AI tools effectively, ensuring that the technology functions correctly, remains ethically aligned, and produces reliable outputs. He sees a new wave of roles emerging to manage and integrate AI into everyday business processes. Quinn, now the senior director of AI operations at Pearl, an AI search platform, shares a similar perspective. He believes that focusing on tasks rather than entire job categories is the key to understanding AI's impact. Many routine and standardized tasks will likely be automated, but this will also create room for employees to engage in higher-value activities. To navigate these changes, Quinn advises companies to invest in employee training and encourage flexible work practices. Failure to adapt could leave workers vulnerable to being overtaken by technological advancements. The debate over AI’s role in the workforce highlights the multifaceted nature of its influence. While it can automate certain jobs, it also has the potential to elevate the capabilities of those who learn to work alongside it.
