On the morning of April 9, a delegation led by Yang Zhen, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Executive Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Agrarian Labor Party of China (ALPC), visited Tsinghua University to conduct a specialized survey and hold a symposium. The survey focused on "Accelerating the Development of Space Internet and Promoting the Integration of Artificial Intelligence and 6G." Wang Lu, a CPPCC Standing Committee member and Executive Vice Chairman of ALPC, also participated in the visit. Tsinghua University's Party Secretary, Qiu Yong, met with the delegation, and Vice President Zeng Rong presided over the symposium. During the symposium, Yang Zhen praised Tsinghua University's achievements in the research of space internet and other cutting-edge fields. He thanked the many scholars and experts for their outstanding contributions over the years. Yang Zhen emphasized the critical importance of cybersecurity for national security and the well-being of the people, stating that control over it must remain in our own hands. He further noted that interdisciplinary research, deeper collaboration between academia and industry, and a focus on talent development and foundational studies are essential to drive innovation and practical applications. Yang Zhen called on Tsinghua University to leverage its intellectual resources to contribute to the goals of a strong education, strong technology, and a strong talent base. In response, Zeng Rong expressed the university's gratitude for the long-standing support from the CPPCC, ALPC, and other organizations. He highlighted that the integration of space internet construction, artificial intelligence, and 6G technology is crucial for high-quality economic and social development. Zeng assured the delegation that Tsinghua will continue to support the National Key Laboratory of Space-based Networks and Communications, aiming to achieve more significant results and contribute to technological self-reliance and strength. Professor Lu Jianhua, the director of the National Key Laboratory of Space-based Networks and Communications and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a special report on the survey's theme. He discussed the 6G network architecture, the current status and challenges of China's space internet development, and the significant impact 6G technology is expected to have on various industries. Lu also provided insights into the potential of 6G network technology to drive new forms of productivity and innovation. Experts and scholars from relevant departments and units of Tsinghua University engaged in discussions about space internet construction and the integration of AI and 6G technology. They shared their perspectives and offered constructive suggestions and feedback. Following the symposium, the delegation toured the National Key Laboratory of Space-based Networks and Communications.
