Saint Petersburg State University of Economics Delegation Visits Tsinghua to Strengthen Cooperation in Economics, Energy, and Education

On April 11, a delegation from Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (SPbUE), led by Vice Rector for Research Elena Anatolievna Gorbashko, visited Tsinghua University in Beijing. Vice President Jiang Peixue welcomed the delegation at the Gongzi Hall and discussed opportunities for deepening the collaboration between the two institutions. Jiang Peixue expressed his gratitude for Gorbashko's visit and provided an overview of Tsinghua's academic and research activities. He highlighted the university's commitment to international cooperation, particularly with Russian institutions and enterprises. In recent years, Tsinghua has focused on addressing global challenges such as climate change, online education, and artificial intelligence. The university aims to strengthen ties with leading international higher education institutions and organizations in these areas. Jiang emphasized his hope that this visit would pave the way for expanded collaboration with SPbUE, particularly in economic management, energy transition, and youth exchange programs. Elena Gorbashko praised Tsinghua University’s significant impact on international education. She then detailed SPbUE's history and development, noting that the university merged in 2013 from Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance and Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Environmental Management. As one of Russia's premier economic universities, SPbUE collaborates closely with several major companies in the energy and sustainability sectors, achieving notable results. Gorbashko expressed her enthusiasm for ongoing and deeper engagement with Tsinghua in academic research, talent development, and youth programs. Several key figures from Tsinghua's School of Economics and Management, the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development, the Institute for Russian Studies, and the International Office joined the meeting. The two universities have a strong foundation for collaboration. SPbUE, now a leading and largest economics teaching and research center in Russia, continues to be a valuable partner in addressing global economic and environmental challenges. This visit is expected to enhance the existing partnership and open new avenues for joint initiatives and projects. The meeting concluded with a group photo, symbolizing the commitment to the continued growth of the relationship between Tsinghua University and Saint Petersburg State University of Economics.
