Elliptic Labs Unveils AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform on Three New Smartphone Models from vivo and HONOR for July 2025, Marking 39 Launches Year-to-Date and 200th Model Shipped in Company History

Elliptic Labs, a global AI software company and leader in AI Virtual Smart Sensors™ deployed in over half a billion devices, has announced the launch of its AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform™ on three new smartphone models scheduled for release in July 2025. The new devices include two from HONOR—the HONOR X70 Series—and one from vivo, the vivo X200FE. This marks the 39th smartphone model launch for the company in 2025, and with the shipment of the HONOR X70 Series, Elliptic Labs has now surpassed 200 smartphone models shipped in its history. “Elliptic Labs' AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform was launched on three smartphone models in July 2025, bringing our total to 39 smartphone model launches year-to-date 2025,” said Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs. The platform’s core innovation lies in its AI Virtual Proximity Sensor, a software-only solution that detects when a user holds their phone to their ear during a call. This enables the device to automatically turn off the display and disable touch input, preventing accidental actions like hanging up or dialing unintended numbers. It also contributes to improved battery efficiency by reducing screen activity during calls. Unlike traditional proximity detection, which relies on dedicated hardware sensors, Elliptic Labs’ AI Virtual Proximity Sensor uses advanced deep neural networks and system-level telemetry data to deliver accurate, real-time detection—without requiring additional physical components. This eliminates hardware costs, reduces supply chain risks, and frees up internal space in devices, making it a more efficient and scalable solution for smartphone manufacturers. The technology is part of Elliptic Labs’ broader AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform™, which delivers contextual intelligence across devices. By integrating data from multiple sources—including onboard sensors, system telemetry, and cloud-based Large Language Models (LLMs)—the platform enables devices to better understand user behavior and environmental context, enhancing personalization, privacy, and productivity. Currently deployed in more than 500 million devices worldwide, the platform is compatible with all major operating systems, device types, and applications. Elliptic Labs continues to expand its global footprint with offices in the USA, China, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan, and remains headquartered in Oslo, Norway. The company is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, with its technology and intellectual property fully developed and owned in Norway. Through its innovative approach to sensor technology, Elliptic Labs is shaping the future of smart, intuitive devices—making technology more responsive, efficient, and user-centric.
